Chair's Invitation
Dear Friends and Colleagues
It is with great pleasure that we extend an invitation to the Second ICON Conference to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
From 16 to 18 March 2012 the Mother City will host this landmark event at the CTICC. Situated in the heart of Cape Town, the CTICC is in close proximity to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, one of South Africa’s leading tourist destinations.
Since our last ICON Conference in 2010, ICON has gone from strength to strength, growing not only our doctor network, but also building relationships with funders, allied disciplines and other important stakeholders.
The main focus of the 2nd ICON Conference will be to strengthen and refine the current ICON treatment protocols using evidence-based clinical as well as health-economic data. Also, it will be a forum for all our network doctors, and other stakeholders, to interact, building mutually beneficial relationships. It is in this spirit that we would encourage and welcome delegates from all realms of healthcare in South Africa to attend.
ICON remains committed to our core values of securing the future of quality cancer care for all our patients. Cogniscent of the realities of the financial climate we operate in, challenges remain in improving our effectiveness, eliminating waste and increasing access of care to a greater number of our fellow citizens. Importantly, we believe this will strongly align ICON with our Government’s aims as set out for the proposed NHI.
We would like to encourage you to join us in this important event. Your contribution will help further ICON’s goals of quality, equitable and sustainable cancer care for all South Africans.
